Defects are making waves as they head into late 2023 with a massive announcement. They are set to embark on a 19-date tour alongside US metalcore group Of Mice & Men in November and December, with stops in Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the UK. Additionally, they will join Funeral For A Friend as special guests at the 20th-anniversary show for the ‘Casually Dressed and Deep In Conversation’ album at the O2 Academy in Birmingham on October 11. The band has also inked deals with Mascot Records, United Talent Agency, and Raw Power Management, all while diligently working on their debut album.
Tony Maue [Vocals], Luke Genders [Guitar], James Threadwell [Guitar], Harry Jennings [Drums], and David Silver [Bass] made a significant impact last year when they provided support for Swedish metallers In Flames during their March tour in the UK. Following that, they opened for Bullet for My Valentine and delivered powerful performances at festivals like The Great Escape, Download, 2000 Trees, Bloodstock, and Primordial General Mayhem. They capped off the year with their inaugural headline tour of the UK and the release of their debut EP, ‘Dream Awake,’ which features the music videos for ‘Dream Awake,’ ‘End of Days,’ and ‘Scapegoat,’ giving listeners a glimpse of their impending sonic onslaught.
Regarding their upcoming tour with Of Mice & Men, they express their gratitude, stating, “We are immensely thankful to the Of Mice & Men guys for their unwavering support and the incredible opportunity to join them on their European and UK tour. Having grown up listening to this band and now sharing the stage with them is a true honor, and we can’t wait to showcase our abilities to everyone.”
In addition to these achievements, the band has also secured partnerships with a formidable team, including Raw Power Management (known for managing Bullet for My Valentine, Bring Me The Horizon, and Don Broco), United Talent Agency (representing Architects, Baby Metal, and Nova Twins), and Mascot Records (home to VOLA, Dragged Under, Conquer Divide, and Oxymorrons) as they work on their highly anticipated debut album. Speaking about these collaborations, they enthuse, “Knowing that experienced individuals believe in us and support our journey truly validates the hard work and dedication we’ve put into building this new band. We are incredibly excited about the future, and we couldn’t have asked for better guidance.”
Raw Power’s CEO, Craig Jennings, adds his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Defects to the Raw Power family. They are one of the most thrilling and intense emerging metal bands in the UK’s burgeoning scene. Signing with the legendary label Mascot and touring with rock icons Of Mice & Men is the perfect launchpad for their debut album campaign.”
