Kekal have updated their latest song, “See The Reapers Coming”, on Bandcamp with the newest mix. The band confirmed on October 2 that this “album version” is the same one that will appear on the upcoming album Kanata, and it replaces the “single” version published in April 2026. It remains a free download.
The track was recorded, mixed and mastered by Jeff Arwadi at Ideation Station between January and September 2026, and it is the first new Kekal song in four years. According to the Bandcamp notes, it reconnects with the energy of the band’s 1998 debut Beyond The Glimpse Of Dreams, bringing in 80s-inspired metal riffs while keeping the unpredictability of the more recent material. The approach is more organic, with more emphasis on guitars, fewer synthesizers and a stronger focus on rock and metal than on electronic elements.
The album is still being finished, and only this song has been fully mixed and mastered for it so far. Once the first four songs are ready, the band will publish them inside the album container on Bandcamp as a “work in progress”. As on the previous four albums, new songs will arrive one at a time, long before the release date. Anyone who downloaded the earlier version can grab the new one for free, or wait for more songs to be published.
Formed in 1995, Kekal became one of the first Indonesian metal acts to gain international exposure, and in 2004 the first from the country to tour Europe. Since 2009 the project has continued without a fixed official lineup.
