Bloomington, Indiana hard rock band Bastion Rose have released “Supernatural”, the final advance single from their upcoming album Blue Rising, out January 15. Timed for October, the track takes aim at the human tendency to cling to the supernatural as a shield against the unexplained.
Wrapped in ritualistic imagery of possession and moonlit communion, the song crashes into a soaring chorus and keeps the band’s progressive rhythmic approach, this time adding slide guitar, banjo and ghostly vocal harmonies. The band describe it as a look at how myths, prayers and superstitions serve as a ward against our own mortality.
“Bury me, bury me / And cover me in snake oil.”
