Næstved Metalfest has announced eight new bands for its 2027 edition, led by Danish heavy metal institution Pretty Maids. The festival takes place on August 26 to 28, 2027 in Næstved, Denmark, with Pretty Maids and Dark Tranquillity at the top of the bill. It will be the only Pretty Maids show on Zealand in 2027, and their first ever in Næstved.

“We’re looking forward to playing Næstved Metalfest in 2027. It will be our first-ever performance in Næstved in the 45 years we’ve been around, and it’s our only show on Zealand in 2027. We can’t wait to rock out with a whole bunch of metalheads and heavy freaks, playing both old classics and brand-new material!!!”
Pretty Maids
The timing is good for the band. Pretty Maids confirmed in September that a new studio album is coming in 2027 via Frontiers Music, produced by Jacob Hansen. It will be their first since 2019’s Undress Your Madness, so fans can expect songs from that record next to classics like “Future World,” “Red, Hot and Heavy” and “Pandemonium.”
Eight New Bands
- Pretty Maids (Denmark)
- Myrath (Tunisia)
- An Abstract Illusion (Sweden)
- Dead Head (Netherlands)
- F.K.Ü. (Sweden)
- Darkfall (Austria)
- Terrorpy (Denmark)
- Trold (Denmark)
The new names cover a lot of ground. Myrath bring their blend of progressive metal and oriental influences, An Abstract Illusion offer atmospheric progressive death metal, and Dutch veterans Dead Head have been playing thrash with death metal in its veins since the late 1980s. F.K.Ü., short for Freddy Krueger’s Ünderwear, add horror-themed crossover thrash, Darkfall mix melodic death metal and thrash, Terrorpy represent Danish technical death metal, and Trold bring folk metal singalongs.
Already Confirmed
- Dark Tranquillity (Sweden)
- Samael (Switzerland), 40th anniversary show
- Burning Witches (Switzerland)
- Hellripper (UK)
- HateSphere (Denmark)
- Murder Squad (Sweden)
- Horned Almighty (Denmark)
- Sarcator (Sweden)
- Odd Palace (Denmark)
That makes 17 of the festival’s 32 bands announced, with 15 still to come. As in past years, the bands will play across three stages over three days, and the site will also host a large Metal Market, a Biergarten and merchandise stands. Among the names already confirmed, Sarcator have just released their new album The Ones We Follow, and you can look back at how the event was shaping up in our report on the 2025 lineup.
Our Take
Booking Pretty Maids is a smart move for a festival that wants to be one of Denmark’s main gathering points for heavy music. A national legend with new songs brings a crowd that might not otherwise make the trip, while Dark Tranquillity and Samael keep the extreme metal fans happy. With nearly half the bill still unannounced and tickets on sale ten months out, this is already one of the more varied lineups in Scandinavia for 2027.
