Today, quickly rising Toronto post-hardcore / alt-punk group, Napoleon, share a new cover of Paramore’s smash hit, “Misery Business“.
Putting their own unique spin on the fan-favourite track, vocalist Jonathan Elmaleh says:
“Being a newer band just getting into touring, at every show we play there are definitely lots of people hearing about us for the first time, so we always try to have one song in the set that everyone will know and can sing along to.
We’ve cycled through so many covers, but one that we keep coming back to is Misery Business. I feel like our version is really unique and has a ton of energy, so when we were recording Dear God we figured we’d give recording the cover a go and see how it comes out, and we’re really stoked about how it did! We’ve been playing it most nights on the Dear God tour and it’s been super fun!“
On the tail end of their tour across the East Coast of Canada and back across the country through Quebec into Ontario in support of their latest EP, ‘Dear God’, the band has been quite literally all over the map this year. Not to mention topping the Canadian Campus Radio charts and spending four weeks on the !earshot National chart, flying high on adds to key playlists like Spotify’s ‘All New Metal‘ and ‘All New Punk’, as well as Apple Music’s ‘New In Punk’, and Exclaim! Magazine’s ‘The Eh List’, having their music go into heavy rotation at idobi Howl, and seeing countless positive press mentions.
With only one date left on their Dear God tour, the band is thrilled to be opening the stage for Dead By April on September 7th at the Velvet Underground – get your tickets here.
