Every year, in the weeks and months leading up to the massive Bloodstock Open Air, bands from all across the UK and Europe do battle for a prestigious slot on the festival’s New Blood stage. Heats of the Metal 2 The Masses competition take place across different regions and different countries, as scores of bands give their all to crush the competition and seize the prize…the opportunity to make the crusade to Catton Hall in Derbyshire and unleash their metal on thousands of fans, gathered from around the world. This year, in Poland, it was rising melodic death metal force, Semprah, that fought off all comers and are now preparing for their performance at Bloodstock!
Semprah have been active since 2019 and released their debut EP, Infernal Claws, through Polish label GOP in November of last year. Described by Metal Mundus as “raw, pure and extremely powerful”.
Reflecting on the Metal 2 The Masses competition in Poland the band said:
“The Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses eliminations were a special time for us. Lots of amazing memories, and lots of awesome bands that showed us how professional the Polish underground metal scene really is. Semprah has definitely matured and improved thanks to the eliminations. We were also introduced to many new people, both from the jury and from the guest bands who gave us some pointers and explained their approach when it comes to being the best version of yourself on the stage. This allowed us to look at things from a wider perspective, and develop a more professional attitude.”
The band can’t wait to take to the New Blood stage at Bloodstock, commenting:
“Bloodstock is a good opportunity to set foot in the UK and present ourselves to a completely different public. This will also be the first time we perform abroad. Attending Bloodstock is a big opportunity for us.This will be our first time playing in a different country and we’re excited to tackle such an adventure. We’re also looking forward to sharing a stage with new musicians and learning new things that come with working with a big-time event such as Bloodstock. It will be very exciting for us to play our Polish language metal songs for UK audience.”
Make sure you don’t miss Semprah at Bloodstock Open Air, which is headlined this year by Opeth, Architects and Amon Amarth and will take place from the 8th to the 11th of August at Catton Park in Derbyshire.
*Semprah will be appearing on the New Blood stage at 6:45pm on Sunday August 11th.*
