About Styx
Creating and recording new music is often considered the lifeblood of any band, and Styx continue to embody that with Circling From Above, the 18th studio album in their catalog, released July 18, 2025 via the band’s own label Alpha Dog 2T/UMe. Across 13 tracks it navigates the complexities of the human experience through the intersecting lenses of technology and nature.
Critics hailed it as their third masterpiece in a row, following 2021’s Crash Of The Crown and 2017’s The Mission. It features contributions from all seven members: founding guitarist and vocalist James “JY” Young, known as the Godfather of Styx, guitarist and vocalist Tommy Shaw, original bassist Chuck Panozzo, longtime drummer Todd Sucherman, keyboardist and vocalist Lawrence Gowan, guitarist and vocalist Will Evankovich, and bassist Terry Gowan.
Their live sets draw from over five decades of chart hits, singalongs and hard-driving deep cuts, moving from the sweeping splendor of “The Grand Illusion” to the hunker-down fortitude of “Blue Collar Man,” from the majestic love of “Lady” to the indictment of pageantry in “Miss America,” from the yearning of “Man in the Wilderness” to the personal quest of “Crystal Ball,” and from the reach-for-the-stars bravado of “Come Sail Away” to the all-in gallop of “Renegade.”
