Swedish progressive metal band Seventh Wonder will release their seventh studio album, VII, on January 29, 2027 via Frontiers Music Srl. The record opens a new chapter for the band with vocalist Mattias Olofsson, who replaces Tommy Karevik, and the first single “Memories” is out now with an official video.

Pre-order VII here.

“This was oddly enough one of the last, if not the last song we wrote for the album. We were sweating a bit in that we didn’t feel we had the best song to launch the new band with. Then Kyrt did his magic and brought what would become ‘Memories’ to the studio.”

Andreas Blomqvist

Olofsson wrote the vocal lines and led the lyric writing before the band finished the words together.

A New Era for Seventh Wonder

VII is the band’s first album since 2022’s The Testament. Bassist Andreas Blomqvist admits that finding a new singer and redefining the band after that silence was a daunting task, but says the album keeps the trademark elements long-time fans expect.

“A new singer is a new face of the band which we hope will reinvigorate the listeners and bring something new and exciting to the table. At the same time long-time fans will probably feel right at home in the sonic landscape of solos, odd time signatures and instrumental endeavors that they’ll be expecting.”

About Seventh Wonder

Bassist Andreas Blomqvist, guitarist Johan Liefvendahl and drummer Johnny Sandin formed Seventh Wonder in 2000, with keyboardist Andreas “Kyrt” Söderin joining soon after. Their 2005 debut Become was followed by the arrival of Tommy Karevik and a run of acclaimed records: Waiting In The Wings (2006), Mercy Falls (2008) and The Great Escape (2010). Drummer Stefan Norgren later replaced Sandin, appearing on the live release Welcome To Atlanta (2016), Tiara (2018) and The Testament (2022). Karevik left after the Testament touring cycle.
