Southern California deathcore veterans Carnifex have released “Licking Love From A Knife” and its official music video. The song comes from their new album More Than Misery, their first for Sumerian Records, out November 6.

“Licking Love From A Knife is my favorite song on More Than Misery and a song that I hope speaks deeply to our fans that have survived toxic relationships.”
Scott Ian Lewis
A Record About Survival
The album title has a double meaning: a life can be bigger than the misery inside it. Where earlier Carnifex records found Lewis processing pain while still living in it, here he looks back from the other side. Musically, the band combined their 2005 instincts with 2026 tools, leading with guitars, deepening the orchestration and writing every song with the live show in mind. With no fixed deadline, they had more time than ever to build the songs, tracking for five to six weeks in Tennessee with Zach Householder of Whitechapel, with Jeff Dunne mixing. It follows the singles “Roses & Rotting Corpses” and “More Than Misery“.
