A Killer’s Confession, the alt-metal band fronted by former Mushroomhead vocalist Waylon Reavis, have released “Meat Hook,” the latest single and video from their sixth studio album, Victim 3, due November 13 via MNRK Heavy. The song arrives just days before the band head out on a North American headline tour.

Built on heavy riffs and hard grooves, “Meat Hook” is about accepting who you are, the good and the bad, instead of living up to anyone else’s expectations. Reavis rates it highly:
“Meat Hook is possibly my favorite song on the album. It is a confrontational anthem. It is finding acceptance on who you truly are good or bad and living up to it. Know thy self only then will you be truly free.”

The track follows “Roses”, which we covered last month, along with a reworking of The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.”
The End of the Victim Trilogy
Victim 3 closes the story that began on Victim 1 and Victim 2. It follows the final descent of a vigilante serial killer, who ends up on death row facing the consequences of what he has done. Reavis, Evan McKeever and Dusty Boles recorded the album in Nashville and Denver. Since forming in 2016, the band have worked with Brian “Head” Welch of Korn, Chad Gray of Mudvayne and Aaron Nordstrom of Gemini Syndrome.

Our Take
Three-album concept stories are hard to finish, and it says something that Reavis calls this project closer to his heart than anything else in a long career. If “Meat Hook” really is his favorite, it is a good sign for the finale: a blunt, confrontational song that puts the character’s refusal to apologize right up front.
