Massachusetts post-rock band Caspian have released their self-titled sixth album via Wax Bodega, together with “A Great Fire”, the third short film created for the record by Luke Webster Brown and Elijah Sussman.

The band previously shared the short films for “Far Country” and “Remain“, and a full visual companion to the album premieres on their YouTube channel next Wednesday.

“Our sixth full length album isn’t particularly uncharted sonic territory for the band but rather a process of self-discovery and coming to terms with the decisions we’ve made and the people we are.”

Philip Jamieson

Jamieson says the album revisits musical promises the band made over 22 years ago, focusing on simple structures, approachable melodies and being as emotionally direct as possible. Recorded this spring with producer Brett Romnes (Hot Mulligan, The Movielife), it keeps Caspian’s dense textures, swelling crescendos and crushing heaviness while letting patience and repetition carry as much weight as surprise.
