New York hardcore pioneers Cro-Mags will release The Age of Quarrel: 40 Years of Quarrel on November 13 via BLKIIBLK. Fronted by founding member Harley Flanagan, the album revisits the band’s landmark 1986 debut with brand new recordings, and the 2026 version of “World Peace” is out now with an official music video.

Why Revisit The Age of Quarrel
The project grew out of the Harley Flanagan: Wired for Chaos documentary, whose soundtrack needed new recordings of a few songs because the originals could not be licensed. Flanagan explains the rest:
“None of the people who played on the original record ever got paid, and none of us ever received an accounting of the album’s sales.”

“Forty years later, everyone who wrote these songs will finally be paid through ASCAP and BMI, and the remaining proceeds will go to charity. I’m doing my best to make things right. These songs belong to the fans. I’m washing my hands of the past and trying to clear the bad karma from this record. Love wins. My quarrel is over.”

Flanagan is joined by original Age of Quarrel guitarist Doug Holland, former Cro-Mags and Suicidal Tendencies guitarist Rocky George, and members of Turnstile and Rise Against, with Greyson Nekrutman on drums throughout. Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Blood Incantation) produced and mixed the record, which adds the 1985 demo favorite “Everybody’s Gonna Die” to new takes on “Hard Times”, “World Peace” and “Malfunction”. The band previously shared the original single “Wired for Chaos”.

About Cro-Mags
A 14-year-old Harley Flanagan started Cro-Mags in 1981 while drumming for The Stimulators, and the demos he cut in 1982 and 1983 became the blueprint for The Age of Quarrel. The album defined the metal and punk crossover and has influenced everyone from Dave Grohl and Green Day to Turnstile. Flanagan took over lead vocals on 1989’s Best Wishes and has led the band ever since.
