Down have released the video for “The Myth”, the opening track and latest single from Volume V, their long-awaited new studio album due November 20 via Nuclear Blast Records. The clip was directed by MetalDave Media.

The track is a blistering opener built on a powerhouse vocal, pummeling rhythms and precise down-picking, before stretching out into a 70s-style jam.
“‘The Myth’ has some epic moments. It’s a jammer. It’s got a big nod to Trouble, but vocally I’m thinking of James Dewar, Ronnie James Dio, Ozzy Osbourne, Glenn Hughes, and many of the other greats.”
Philip H. Anselmo
“‘The Myth’ is classic DOWN in all its hammer fisted glory leading into a ’70s jam trip that’s damn well worthy of the ride.”
Pepper Keenan
The band also shared the video for first single “Blood Oath”:
Volume V
Most of Volume V came from two writing sessions at Anselmo’s home studio, Nodferatu’s Lair, the band’s clubhouse since Down II. The songs were written face to face throughout 2025, with Keenan and Kirk Windstein recording their guitars together. The album was produced by Eddie Mapp and Down, mixed by Dave Fortman and mastered by Maor Appelbaum. It will be available on CD, digital and 2xLP in several color variants.
“These days, there’s no pressure. We each showed up with what we had, and everybody added their input. It was a true band effort.”
Philip H. Anselmo
