Finnish melodic death and gothic metal band Endless Chain have released “Save Me,” the third single and video from their upcoming album Nothingness. The record is out on November 20 via M-Theory Audio, and it is the band’s first international release.

Pre-order Nothingness on Bandcamp or at the M-Theory Audio webstore.

“This is definitely one of my favourites from the new album. I think we really managed to capture the right mood with this one, and the song is full of emotion. Ville Hovi’s lyrics, combined with the amazing vocal performances by both Ville and Aki Salonen, really bring the song to life in a beautiful way.”

Timo Mölsä, guitar

“‘Save Me’ explores themes of memory, loss, shame and despair. After losing someone close to him, a man is haunted by ghosts from his past that return as powerful memories. As time passes, his memories begin to blur with reality, making it difficult to tell what belongs to the present and what belongs to the past, what is real and what is imagined.”

Ville Hovi, vocals

Hovi adds that despite the despair at the heart of the song, there is still “a small thought that perhaps life might still hold some hope.” The video was made by Dronicon Films, known for work with Swallow The Sun, Kryptos and Devin Townsend.

Third Preview of Nothingness

“Save Me” follows “Down” and “Fade To Nothingness,” which you can watch below.

Nothingness was produced and mixed by Aleksanteri Kuosa (Wolfheart, Walteri, Dawn of Solace) and mastered by Tony Lindgren (Amorphis, Insomnium, Katatonia), with artwork by Kalle Pyyhtinen (Children of Bodom, Entwine, Hanging Garden). It comes as a Digipak CD with booklet, a hardwood colored vinyl limited to 300 copies with insert and download, and digital. Bandcamp and M-Theory ship from the US or Europe depending on your location, and fans in Finland can also order through RecordShopX.

From Forthcoming Past to Nothingness

Guitarist Timo Mölsä founded Endless Chain as a personal creative outlet, and it grew into a full band bridging melancholic gothic metal and heavy melodic death metal. The debut Forthcoming Past arrived in 2021, followed in 2024 by Agony, a 10-track record built on the contrast between Ville Hovi’s soaring clean vocals and Aki Salonen’s harsh growls. Drummer Samuli Mikkonen also plays in Korpiklaani.

Our Take

Endless Chain draw on the Finnish melancholy that runs from Amorphis to Insomnium, and “Save Me” is their most affecting song yet. The dual-vocal approach gives the song both fragility and weight, and the theme of memory blurring into reality suits that push and pull. If the rest of Nothingness keeps this level, it should introduce the band well beyond Finland.

Endless Chain are: Aki Salonen (harsh vocals), Ville Hovi (clean vocals), Timo Mölsä (guitar), Aleksanteri Kuosa (guitar, bass), Samuli Mikkonen (drums).
