French cinematic metal visionaries Hypno5e have revealed “Trame Noire”, the haunting title track from their seventh album Trame Noire, out November 6 via Pelagic Records. The video was directed by band mastermind Emmanuel Jessua.

Built from models, collages, drawings and layered superimpositions, the clip follows a character wandering through fragments of his own memories, mirroring the album’s themes of memory, loss, dreams and the ghosts of the past.
“Memory becomes a material that repeats, distorts and endlessly resurfaces. A cycle from which there is no escape, like an intimate curse, where the past always finds its way back into the present.”
Emmanuel Jessua
One Night, One Character
Trame Noire takes its name from the French term for “dark infrastructure”, urban design that preserves the darkness of night for nocturnal species. The album unfolds over a single night, as its protagonist confronts buried trauma triggered by every insect, flap of a wing and shift in temperature.
The record marks a shift toward a more organic sound. Hypno5e cut back on samples to focus on one voice and one character, and chose a warmer, looser production inspired by 70s psychedelic rock rather than traditional tech-metal. Highlights include opener “Lost Fires”, the Pink Floyd-meets-Gojira swings of “Falmer”, the old-school prog of “Molecular Angel” and the 10-minute closing title track. The cover was painted by Emmanuel’s father, co-lyricist Thierry Jessua.
“This time I wanted to discover another language. Every album should tell its story differently. I never want Hypno5e to become predictable.”
Emmanuel Jessua
It is also the first album written and recorded from start to finish by the current lineup.
