Italian dark band Mother Augusta have announced their third full-length album, Labyrinths Of Pain, due November 7 via Talheim Records on CD and digital. The first single, “Deep, Dark, Silent,” is out now with an official music video.

A Journey to the Level Below
The six-track album explores reflection, memory, introspection and suffering through what the band calls a more mature and cynical lens. Described as an eternal journey that leads only to “a level below,” it builds on their previous work with more complex songwriting and a decadent, oppressive pace. Its meditations on pain and memory are meant to leave a bitter aftertaste, pulling the listener deeper into Mother Augusta’s world of darkness and solitude.
“Deep, Dark, Silent” is also available to stream here. With only six tracks, Labyrinths Of Pain is built to be heard as a single descent rather than a collection of songs, and the CD comes in a digipak edition from Talheim’s web stores in Germany and Austria. It is the band’s first full-length in three years, and the first since the tour that took them all the way to Berlin.
From Abandoned Suburbs to Walpurgisnacht
Mother Augusta formed in 2013 as an “entity” rather than a conventional band, born from the nocturnal streets of a silent city, dark subway stations and the outskirts of abandoned suburbs. Their music gives voice to obsession, trauma and loneliness. After the self-produced EP The Burning Sun Of Despair, they assembled a full lineup and released their debut album Fragile in 2018 through Pest Productions, which was praised in the Italian underground and introduced live favourites such as “Mom” and “In Myself.”
Their second album, Low Lights, followed in 2023 via Black Blood Records, with songs like “Hikikomori” and “Clochard Avenue” turning their concerts into journeys through solitude and memory. The supporting tour ended at Berlin’s Walpurgisnacht festival, where they shared the bill with Thy Light. Labyrinths Of Pain marks their move to Austrian label Talheim Records.
Our Take
Mother Augusta work in a bleak, urban corner of dark music where mood matters more than speed. “Deep, Dark, Silent” lives up to its title, and the promise of more complex songwriting on a tight six-track album suggests a band refining rather than repeating itself. Fans of bands like Thy Light should keep an eye on November 7.
