Less than 2 weeks remain before the release of Bay Area post-metal band MOUNTAINEER’s eagerly anticipated new album, Dawn And All That Follows. Today the band has revealed their third and final single and video, “Prism.” The doomgazers’ 5th full length record will be released on July 26th with A Thousand Arms Music (US) and Dunk!records (EU).

Commenting on “Prism,” guitarist Clayton Bartholomew states:

Prism was the last song written for the album. We had another song called Undoing that we were planning to have on the album, but it wasn’t clicking vocally. Prism came together quickly. We wrote it collectively in our rehearsal space in about an hour. I think we are all proud of the way it turned out.”

Vocalist Miguel Meza adds of the video’s concept:

Within her lucid dreams, she navigates a world where imagination meets reality, yet anxiety sometimes lurks in the shadows, challenging her sense of control and peace.

With Dawn And All That Follows the band emerges after 18 months of painstaking writing, rehearsing and recording their next chapter, with one of the band’s most vivid, luscious efforts to date. Featuring standout tracks like “Cradlesong,” “Parallels” and “Prism,” the Ben Hirschfield (Mom Jeans, The Story So Far, Against Me!) produced record soars through epic peaks and valleys of beautiful atmospheric bliss and torrential heavy torment.

Guitarist Clayton Bartholomew had this to say about the new record: “I think with Dawn and All That Follows, we took our time and really focused on developing the songs. A lot of thought went into the composition and flow of the album. Attention to detail with the songwriting was more prevalent this time around… we wanted to write a collection of the best songs we could. As with all our previous albums, we recorded at Nu-Tone Studios with Ben Hirschfield producing. I think you can hear not only the evolution of the band in terms of songwriting over our five albums, but you can also hear Ben’s growth as a producer, engineer and mixer.”

About MOUNTAINEER

Mountaineer was formed in 2015 by guitarist Clayton Bartholomew and vocalist Miguel Meza in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Mountaineer‘s debut album, Sirens and Slumber, was recorded in late 2016. Shortly after, the band signed with Lifeforce Records, who released their debut in May of 2017. The band briefly toured the western U.S. in support of the release.

In July of 2018, Lifeforce Records released the band’s second full length album, titled Passages. This album saw the addition of drummer Patrick Spain.

Following the release of Passages, guitarists Isaac Rigler and Forrest Harvey joined Mountaineer. The now six-piece collective released the critically heralded Bloodletting in May of 2020.

During the pandemic, the band wrote and recorded the album Giving Up the Ghost, with Lifeforce Records once again handling the release.

In 2022, longtime drummer Patrick Spain amicably left the band and was replaced by Jordan Norton. Mountaineer then spent 18 months painstakingly writing and rehearsing the new material which was to become the album Dawn and All That Follows– their fifth studio effort. In early 2024, the band signed with Dunk!Records in the EU and A Thousand Arms Music in the states. Dawn and All That Follows will be released on July 26th, 2024.
