Canadian rock band Nickelback have released “Leave Me Behind,” the third single from their upcoming studio album Everything Under the Sun, due October 30 via Virgin Music Group. It follows the hard-charging “Rattle the Cage” (featuring John 5) and the chart-topping “Bones for the Crows,” which marked the band’s first new music since 2022’s Get Rollin’.
Where “Rattle the Cage” leaned on blistering guitars and arena-sized energy, “Leave Me Behind” pulls back into something more vulnerable, built around loyalty and the instinct to stand beside someone through their hardest moments. The song speaks to carrying a person through what has broken them down and, in the end, learning to let go of the pain.
Frontman Chad Kroeger explained the emotional core of the track:
“There’s a lot of weight in this song, but there’s also a lot of hope. It’s about being there for someone when they’re dealing with the things that have broken them down, picking up the pieces, taking some of that weight off their shoulders, and reminding them they don’t have to go through it alone. At the same time, there’s that feeling of not wanting to be left behind. We liked that tension. It makes the song feel really personal.”

Everything Under the Sun is Nickelback’s first release with Virgin Music Group, arriving after the globally successful Netflix documentary Hate to Love: Nickelback and the record-breaking Get Rollin’ world tour, the fastest-selling and highest-attended run of the band’s career. The album is available to pre-order here.
Virgin Music Group’s president for North America, Jacqueline Saturn, welcomed the partnership:
“Nickelback have built one of the most remarkable careers in music, and it’s a huge honor for everyone at Virgin Music Group to work alongside a band with such an enduring legacy and global impact. We’re thrilled to partner with them as they begin this exciting new chapter and can’t wait for fans to experience Everything Under the Sun.”

From their beginnings in Hanna, Alberta, Nickelback have grown into one of the most commercially successful rock bands of the 21st century, with nearly 60 million albums sold worldwide and more than 50 million monthly listeners across streaming platforms. Since breaking through with 2001’s Silver Side Up and the era-defining hit “How You Remind Me,” the band has collected multiple Grammy nominations along with American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards and JUNO Awards.
