Masked rapper-guitarist Red Sky has unveiled the official music video for “Shoganai”, the opening track from his album Nostalgia del Futuro, out now via Epictronic. Shot at night in Tokyo’s Kabukichō district, the video sees Red Sky deliver a playback performance surrounded by neon signs and the energy of the Japanese capital.

The Japanese expression shōganai means “it can’t be helped”, and Red Sky turns it into a defiant reply to anyone who mocks or discourages people for following their own path: critics can keep talking, but they don’t decide where he goes next.

Written shortly before his move to Japan and inspired by Maxwell Maltz’s Psycho-Cybernetics, Nostalgia del Futuro is a personal manifesto that blends metal, rap, electronic music, reggae and traditional Japanese and Middle Eastern influences, exploring identity, ageing and self-worth. Active since 2011, Red Sky has released 14 albums under his “Kintsugi Music” philosophy, with a sound that will appeal to fans of Caparezza, Rancore, Linkin Park, Rammstein and Falling in Reverse.
