Swedish AOR and melodic rock band Streetlight have released “Runaway Skies,” the second single and video from their third album, Shadows In Motion. The record arrives on January 22, 2027 via Frontiers Music Srl.

“‘Runaway Skies’ was one of the first songs written for our upcoming album ‘Shadows In Motion’. Built on a driving guitar riff, the mood is melancholic yet positive. Every one of our records has featured a song with a California theme, and ‘Runaway Skies’ continues in that spirit. It captures the imagery of driving from the ocean breezes of Malibu to the streetlights of a darkening Hollywood.”
Johannes Häger, vocals
The song follows the album’s opener and first single, “Rebel Blood”:
Made at Home, Down to the Snare Sound
Like its two predecessors, Shadows In Motion was recorded and produced entirely at Häger’s own Loud Noise Studios. The band says long days and late nights went into every detail, “from the perfect snare sound to layered vocal harmonies.”
“Just like shadows move with the pull of gravity, we have no intention of slowing down. We are pushing ahead, with soaring six-strings and powerful choruses.”
Streetlight
Frontiers describes the album as the strongest statement of the band’s career so far, building on the foundation of their first two records while pushing their songwriting, musicianship and emotional depth further. Expect anthemic rockers alongside more evocative, reflective moments, all wrapped in the polished production and big harmonies that AOR fans look for.

A Fast Rise in Melodic Rock
In only a few years Streetlight have built a dedicated following among AOR fans, and we last covered them when they shared a live video for “Leanna”. Their sound draws on the classic 80s melodic rock tradition, with saxophone from drummer Erik Nilsson adding to the retro atmosphere. The California theme Häger mentions has become a signature on every record.
Our Take
“Runaway Skies” does exactly what great AOR should: a driving riff, a chorus built for open windows and a bittersweet mood that keeps it from feeling like a pastiche. If the rest of Shadows In Motion matches these two singles, Streetlight will start 2027 as one of the genre’s most reliable young bands.
Streetlight are: Johannes Häger (lead vocals, guitars), Filip Stenlund (guitars), John Svensson (keyboards), Erik Nilsson (drums, saxophone), Johan Tjernström (bass).
