Wax Mekanix has returned with an electrifying new single and video, “Once Upon A Lie”, now available through Electric Talon Records. Watch the video below.
This track is the second single from his latest album, Psychotomimetic, released on September 8 via Electric Talon Records. The record is available on CD, streaming platforms, and as a digital download on the label’s Bandcamp page: https://talonrecordsusa.bandcamp.com/album/wax-mekanix-psychotomimetic.
Driven by an ominously thick groove, serrated melodic guitars, mysterious vocals, and a slamming rhythm section, “Once Upon A Lie” delves into the masochistic perspective of the ‘lied-to.’ With its trippy undertones, the song questions who holds the power in a world of deep fakes and overwhelming misinformation.
In stark contrast to the urgency of 2020’s Mobocracy and 2021’s Blunt, Wax Mekanix explores the duality of humanity’s insatiable appetite for deception in this 3-minute and 22-second truth experiment.
Through vivid lyrics like, “Who vets the proctor? Watches the watcher?” and “Nothing shocks us inside the killbox,” Wax navigates the deliberate surrender to misinformation, stepping into the skin of those who embrace intellectual and spiritual destruction. He doesn’t judge but instead offers a sober, wide-eyed perspective—curiously resolved to experience the fallout of the ongoing battle between truth and lies.
The song concludes with a poignant parting wink: “I’m on to your jive. Cons breed your demise.” Is this a warning for the liar, the lied-to, or both?
