Welsh bilingual nu-metal duo C E L A V I have released the single and video “Ar Dy Liniau (On Your Knees)”, taken from their upcoming EP Praelia, due Friday, November 13.
Formed by married couple Gwion Griffiths and Sarah Wynn Griffiths, the band has earned support from Metal Hammer, BBC Radio 1, Kerrang! Radio and BBC 6 Music, plus a Match of the Day sync. At Download Festival they became the first band ever to perform in Welsh on its stages, a milestone documented in Sgrechian (Screaming), a film from S4C’s digital platform Hansh. Next up is a slot at Pro Weekend Fest 2026 in Spain this autumn.
Praelia
Named after the Latin word for “battles”, Praelia was produced by Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Motörhead, Nova Twins). The EP pairs punishing riffs and melodic hooks with darker industrial textures, and the duo’s Welsh and English lyrics deal with identity, resilience, mental health and self-expression. Fans of Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails and Linkin Park will find plenty to dig into.
“PRAELIA is heavy, full of chaotic and melodic empowering anthems. It’s cathartic. It’s all about facing battles and fighting back.”
Sarah Wynn Griffiths
