Copenhagen heavy rock band Empath have shared “Only The Dead”, the second single from their self-titled debut album, out November 13 on Indisciplinarian. The visualizer was created by vocalist Morten Grønnegaard, who also designed the album cover.

“‘Only the Dead’ is an anti-war song. The chorus line, ‘Only the dead have seen the end of the fury of men,’ states the fact that the tragedy of war has always been, and always will be, an unbearable burden on humanity.”

About Empath
Empath is built around the songwriting partnership of Grønnegaard (Qaisor) and guitarist Jacob Krogholt (Anti Ritual), who previously played together in the metal band Rising. Bassist KB Larsen (Volbeat, Anti Ritual) and drummer Jeppe Munk Aakeson (Knytnæve, Iota) complete the lineup on the debut, which Larsen co-produced with the band and Brad Boatright (Obituary, Deadguy, The Armed) mastered at Audiosiege.
Across eight songs and 38 minutes, the album draws on the heavy, progressive and psychedelic rock and metal of the 1970s and ’80s, adding vintage sci-fi synths to an organic modern production. Lyrically, it looks at human ambition and its consequences in a world of climate change, inequality and conflict, inspired by Arthur C. Clarke, William Blake and Thomas De Quincey.
Empath play their first show at A Colossal Kind Of X-mas at Hotel Cecil in Copenhagen on December 11.
