Swedish heavy metal giants Sabaton have announced a deluxe edition of their eleventh album, Legends, out March 5, 2027 via Better Noise Music. To mark the news, the band have released a new single and lyric video, “Berserker,” which will also appear on the expanded album.
Pre-order or pre-save Legends (Deluxe) here.
“Berserker” draws on the band’s Scandinavian roots, lineage and history. The song began taking shape a few years ago, but the band chose to perfect it and wait for the right moment. Bassist Pär Sundström explains:
“‘Berserker’ breathes Scandinavian influences, so the Viking theme came naturally. It’s close to our own roots and our own history, and that gave the song a special meaning for us.”

An official animated video for “Berserker,” featuring actor Eric Roberts, arrives on Monday, November 9 at 2pm GMT. It revisits the legend of the berserker at the Battle of Stamford Bridge, mixing the present with the memory of the past.
Legends (Deluxe)
Released in October 2025, Legends took Sabaton further back in history than ever before, after several albums focused on the two World Wars. The deluxe edition adds “Berserker,” “Champion of Christ” and “To Glory,” plus versions of “Templars” with Pop Evil and “Crossing the Rubicon” with Nothing More. Formats include a deluxe CD, a 3CD digibook, several 2LP vinyl editions and a special box set, while some formats include Symphonic and Storyteller editions. We covered earlier releases from this era, including “Yamato” and the new version of “Templars” with Pop Evil.

Our Take
Sabaton have spent years telling other nations’ war stories, so a song about their own Viking roots feels overdue. Holding “Berserker” back until it was ready was the right call, and an animated video starring Eric Roberts shows the band still think big when it comes to visuals. For fans, the deluxe edition is a good excuse to revisit one of their most adventurous albums.
