The internationally acclaimed Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, led by Executive Director Eduardo Méndez and Musical Director Gustavo Dudamel, has earned its first GRAMMY® nomination for Best Orchestral Performance of Ravel: “Boléro, M. 81.” The recording captures a mesmerizing interpretation of one of the most popular works in the classical canon, celebrated for its hypnotic repetition, gradual crescendo, and Spanish-inspired rhythm.

The nominated work, conducted by seven-time GRAMMY® winner Gustavo Dudamel, was recorded in London during the orchestra’s 2025 European tour. It was released on March 13, 2025 by the innovative Platoon label. This nomination follows the orchestra’s recent performances with Coldplay during their 10-day sold out run at London’s Wembley Stadium.

“We are deeply proud of this historic GRAMMY® nomination,” shares Executive Director of El Sistema, Eduardo Méndez, “the first ever for our Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra. It’s a moment that honors the incredible artistry of Maestro Gustavo Dudamel and every musician who carries the spirit of El Sistema. This recognition celebrates Venezuela’s talent and reaffirms our mission to transform lives through the power of music.”
