Utah post-hardcore outfit Eidola will release their new album The Will to Power on November 20 via 3DOT Recordings. Today they share the video for the voodoo-inspired single “Damballah”, directed by Michael Wells and Mel Torres.

“‘Damballah’ is about transformation through destruction. The idea that sometimes the only way forward is to shed the identity that brought you this far.”
Andrew Wells
Vocalist and guitarist Andrew Wells, also a member of Dance Gavin Dance, says the serpent at the heart of the song is an ancient symbol of the cycle of creation and death, and of letting go of habits built over a lifetime.
The Will to Power
Loosely inspired by Nietzsche, the 10-track album explores how power has shaped humanity throughout history and continues to shape the world today, pushing Eidola’s post-hardcore further into prog, metal, alternative and experimental territory. For the first time, the whole band wrote together face to face, spending six days in Los Angeles with producer and engineer Stephan Hawkes (Chelsea Grin) at the end of 2025.
“Working in-person was just so much fun. As a father now, my excitement and gratitude for what we do together had really increased. I was able to access more emotion and vulnerability than ever before.”
