Anthrax have unleashed a new single and music video for “Everybody’s Got a Plan,” the latest taste of their long-awaited 12th studio album, “Cursum Perficio,” due September 18 via Megaforce Records (and Nuclear Blast in Europe). Watch it below.
Rather than a straight performance clip, the video unfolds as a fast-paced montage of Anthrax’s life on the road – onstage fury and backstage fun alike – largely captured on July 7 in Lisbon, Portugal, where the New York thrash titans (Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, Frank Bello, Joey Belladonna and Jonathan Donais) opened for Iron Maiden. Vintage black-and-white boxing footage is woven throughout, nodding to the song’s central idea that everybody has a plan “until they get punched in the face.”
“‘Everybody’s Got a Plan’ has always been one of my favorite songs on Cursum Perficio”, Benante says. “The video basically shows the band on and off stage in a montage of video clips that kinda matches the velocity of the song. ‘Everybody’s got a plan/That’s until they get punched in the face’ is such a great line, and so true!”
“Most of this video was shot opening for [Iron] Maiden in Lisbon, Portugal at Estádio da Luz on July 7, 2026,” Ian notes. “We wanted to capture us having fun on tour, and what better way to do that? That was a plan that didn’t end up with a punch in the face! Have fun watching my friends!”
“This video is a great representation of a day in the life of Anthrax on tour,” Bello adds.
“Everybody’s Got a Plan” is the third single from “Cursum Perficio,” following “It’s For the Kids” and “The Edge of Perfection.” The record is Anthrax’s first in a decade – since 2016’s Top 10 Billboard 200 entry “For All Kings” – and its Latin title translates roughly to “my journey is complete,” a fitting sign-off for a band 45 years into its run. Sessions began in earnest in 2022 at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles, with production handled by Jay Ruston and the band. The striking cover art comes from artist Mark Stritzel, with animated character clips by Emmanuel Cappellini rolling out in the weeks leading up to release.
