Industrial metal veterans Fear Factory have returned with a new single called “Roboticist”, released alongside a music video. The track premiered on SiriusXM Liquid Metal and opens what the band is framing as a new chapter.
The song is the first recording to feature the group’s current lineup: vocalist Milo Silvestro, drummer Pete Webber, and bassist Tony Campos, alongside founding guitarist Dino Cazares. Musically it pairs the band’s familiar mechanical heaviness with a more melodic hook, built around a dystopian idea where the body gives out and consciousness is all that remains.
“Roboticist” was produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Damien Rainaud. The accompanying video was directed by Vincente Cordero and produced by Arion Csihar.
Cazares commented on the release:
“The future isn’t coming. It’s already here, ‘Roboticist’ is the next evolution of Fear Factory. Man, Machine and the war for what comes next. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the beginning of a new era of Fear Factory.”
For three decades Fear Factory have built their catalog around the tension between humanity and technology, and the band says more information about a new album is coming soon.
